ME AND CHEF WATSON
gastronomic battle between human and computer
dinner experience
2017
IBM Chef Watson is a computer program that invents new dishes based on a database of existing flavor combinations. If it was up to Chef Watson this dining experience would have been completely algorithmically established. Ingredients and preparation alike: the steps would be based on computer logic. But Watson lacks certain skills, it can't actually cook for example, let alone taste. Human Margriet Craens follows it's recipes with her own preset preferences and an intuitive attitude. This confrontation between computer app and man-made cuisine was served on a plate. In between courses guests were told the story of this colleboration. Watson was also present as a host live (audible, not visible) to explain the dishes, ask questions to guests and vice versa to answer questions from guests.
